A Thousand Suns - Box set (Containing Album Digipak)
Analysis
- Throughout this album there is a very common theme of the images presented being simple yet obscured. For example of the advert is the faces of the band members but digitized and obscured in order to give a sense of normality that has gone wrong in some way.
- The theme of the album of one of obscurity of what are otherwise normal objects. The digipak cover appears to simply be a white circle and a black circle which have been blurred to mix with one another. Similarly the faces of the members are simply cut and obscured slightly and in the music video much of what we see is a very simple music video but obscured by smoke which is what keeps the theme running.
- There is a very limited range of colours used throughout. Much of the content in the box set is either black or white, the digipak being mostly black other than the white image on the front. Similarly the advert again uses mostly black and white along with varying shades of grey. This can also be seen in the music video in which for the most part we see the members, other people, a black background and grey smoke.
- The same font is used for text both on the digipak and elsewhere on the box set as well as on the advert poster.
- Compared to some of the other albums, this album has a much simpler design and this is represented in the digipak, advert and the video itself.
